Digsby; Manage your Social Networks
Submitted by webgeek on Sun, 06/07/2009 - 03:10
Digsby is a desktop application that manages all of your IMs, Email and Social Networks in one neat little package. It combines all your IM contact lists including facebook!! That was a definite plus. One thing I have found so far, is that when you send someone a message it doesn't always alert them that you've typed something.
You can change the colours and make minor changes to the layout to aesthetically please you.
Notifications for myspace, facebook, twitter are all displayed in pop ups which aren't as intrusive as you'd think.
With Digsby you save a lot of unnecessary open windows in your web browser and can still stay up to date with your multitude of social networks.
If they ever make this cellular it's all over.

Chyrp Microblogging Platform
Submitted by webgeek on Sun, 06/07/2009 - 02:21I've been looking at open source micro blogging software. Ultimately trying to help out my Uncle find a twitter clone that he can customize for his own site.
Laconica is ok, but requires alot of backend programming, something my Uncle and I are still novices at. It's been hard so far to find a user friendly, easily customizable micro-blogging platform.
Another alternative involved using Google Apps to build the platform on, and python. We're looking for something that requires uploading a zip or .gz file and attaching a database much the same as wordpress, drupal and other content management systems are installed. In fact that describes the problem exactly, where is an easy micro blogging CMS? This is still under investigation..

"The Great 3D Wall
The Cooliris 3D Wall provides a visually stunning and easy way to search and view thousands of photos and videos. By displaying content on a single, ever-expansive wall, Cooliris helps you find what you're looking for faster than the traditional way of clicking the "next" button webpage by webpage."
