Hubspot.com, voted in the top 20 for most promising businesses by Forbes magazine, is well known for their all-in-one marketing software. Periodically Hubspot release reports on social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter and how you can utilize them for your business. Recently they released a report of the top tweeters on twitter measured by their website Tweet.Grader.com this included details such as number of followers, how long they had been on twitter, location and how often they tweeted, so what were the characteristics of the top ten tweeters as measured by Tweet Grader?

All top ten candidates had been on twitter for over two years. This shows that longevity is important in value and can influence your popularity on Twitter and with Tweet Grader. In addition all of the top ten tweeters as measured by Tweet Grader had over 200,000 followers, however some had over 1,000,000 followers but this did not automatically give them the top spot. The top spot was held by diggy_ymcmb with over 200,000 followers, Diggy Simmons is a music artist who uses his twitter account to promote tours and his album.

The top ten Tweeters all have more followers than they are following, this is a popular trend amongst many top tweeter lists that it’s important to have more followers as it’s a sign of increased popularity.

Diggy Simmons was the only music artist in the top ten which was dominated by online magazines, television and entertainment media and social media marketers. All accounts promoted their main website and some promoted their Facebook account in addition. The majority used personalized custom backgrounds on twitter that showcased their website name.

Within the top ten accounts two through nine all had high content dynamic websites powered by content management systems such as Wordpress. All websites contained multiple media types including written, video and music and like their Twitter accounts have been around two years or more.

Of the top ten only three accounts were gender specific, diggy_ymcmb, lorimoreno and mojito0, the rest were business based and not gender specific.

Geographically the majority of the top ten were based in South America including Chile, Venezuela, Mexico and Brazil, others were based in Korea and Indonesia and two were unspecified on Hubspot’s list.

This morning I was helping a client with some keyword research using the Google Keyword Tool available in your Google AdWords account. There's been some redesigning for search results and now if you right click on the down arrow you can select Google Insights for search and immediately monitor the search trend history for that keyword!
Other new options include Google Search, Keyword Exclusion and 'show more like this'. The Google keywords tool has become an even bigger asset than before with these new features!

Google insights for search tool is similar to Google trends except it monitors search trends over longer periods of time and doesn’t update data quite as frequently. It is especially useful for monitoring search terms in your field, subject or for particular keywords.

• Results can be monitored by different categories including financial data, health and history.

• Demographics such as location are used so you can search for a keyword or search trend and locate where it is most popular.

Yesterday I received an email from Google introducing Google Play. This is effectively Google's new marketplace for all their entertainment offerings including, app's, movies, songs and ebooks. Now there's a one stop shop for everything.

With Google Play, users can buy and experience books, music, movies and Android apps, available across their devices. Google Play gives our partners and the ecosystem an integrated entertainment hub for Android and Google users. As part of this launch, Google eBooks and Android Market will become part of Google Play, and users will now get their ebooks from Google Play.

In addition, customers who go to the web ebookstore will be redirected to the Google Play store. While this doesn't change the way consumers read Google eBooks, it does provide a more compelling mobile purchase experience.
